Paul Ryan
Paul Ryan's oil paintings and charcoal drawings represent an ideal combination of old and new styles. Although inspired by the master painters of the 18th century, Ryan contributes a modern slant, approaching his work with "a broader, more heavily loaded brushstroke". Over the last ten years he has attained success in the Blake, Dobell, Sulman Prizes and Salon des Refusés, including his portrait of Richard Tognetti in the 2002 Archibald Prize (short listed). |
