Established in 1998, thecelebrates the enduring importance and the contemporary significance of landscape painting in the Australian art world.
From artists whose works reflect on nature’s diversity, to those that seek a place away from the urban sprawl, to those that question man’s impact on the environment, landscape painting in Australia remains not only a popular artform, but one that seeks to critically identify our place in the world.
It seems appropriate that the most significant prize for landscape art in Australia be centred in the Fleurieu Peninsula, a region which, with its striking vistas and extraordinary geological formations has long been both a home and a source of inspiration for some of Australia’s most important landscape artists.
Together with , , and , the awards represent a significant commitment by the Fleurieu Peninsula region to the support and development of the visual arts in Australia.
